How Brigitte earned $8,000+ in her first beta launch
Brigitte is no newbie to the business world. She’s been her own boss as a master quilting teacher for more than 10 years and has had the opportunity to travel around the world to teach her craft — in Canada, throughout European, and in USSR. But 2020 put a sharp halt on her travels and teaching, and she needed to figure out how to do things differently to maintain her income.
Brigitte Heitland is a 61-year-old fabric designer for quilt fabrics. Her company, Zen Chic, brings modern and sophisticated quilts to the table.
After pondering how she could manage moving to the online space entirely, she decided to start a YouTube channel to teach quilt-alongs, which are free tutorials for other crafters to learn. All they needed to join in the fun was to buy the pattern, then Brigitte showed them how to sew it.
Though she loved what she was doing, she quickly realized filming wasn’t her best skill. Having to do both parts (the behind the scenes and be the face) was not easy. Good news, though: her son joined in her efforts and became her camera man so she could teach a paid, larger online class without the headache of producing everything herself.
Funny story…
Brigitte joined 100K Mastermind and one of the first things we guided her on was setting goals for her beta launch. She set her sights on selling about 10 spots: three on Friday, three on Saturday, and three or four on Sunday. Ten minutes after promoting her class, she’d sold 13 spots! And, by the time her beta launch wrapped up… she had sold 250!!
“My class was how to sew curved seams for quilters. My class was priced at $35, and I sold 250 classes, it was $8,750. I thought, okay, this is the proof that I’m on the right way, and my investment has already paid off four times.”
Not only that, but she created a slide at the end of her class to share about her 90-day masterclass that would be coming next called 90 Days for Precision Piecing. Many of the students in the beta class have asked if they can sign up early or when the masterclass will be ready. This validated to Brigitte that her target customers had a definite interest for the larger class she wanted to create.
What made the difference for her?
“When I went through the first modules [of 100K Mastermind], I was blown away by the fact how deep we go into market searching to figure out to whom do we want to sell to? What is our marketing message? And with that beta launch, I saw, well, that makes sense. In the end, it really pays off to do all this market research and to have this background knowledge, which I wouldn’t have had by my own.
Now that gives me a certain confidence when I promote my product, which I wouldn’t have had otherwise.”

“My personal coach emails every two weeks, and I show what I have done so far, and she gives me a little bit of feedback. I see she actually opens the file I send, and I know there is someone who will reach out, and if I do nothing, this person will ask, what’s going on in your life? Why don’t you go forward? And a person who holds me accountable is just like a motor for me to go forward.”
