Ditch confusing messaging and solidify sales with solid market research

Rashidat Odeyemi is a dream strategist who helps everyday dreamers confidently turn their ideas into a life plan
(without getting stuck in analysis paralysis)
so they can take action and thrive in new ways.

But Rashidat was really struggling to figure out a clear and concise way of talking specifically to “everyday dreamers” so they could fully understand how she could help them.

Talking about dreams can feel very broad, and feedback she received over and over again about her messaging was to “make it more specific.”

“I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that in a way that still talks to the everyday dreamer rather than trying to focus on an entrepreneur – because that’s not really the market I’m trying to get to.”

Before investing in VALIDATE, Rashidat’s biggest hesitation was making sure that the program was the right fit for her needs at that moment. She already loved Gillian’s products, but she wanted to stay her course and not get shiny object syndrome about everything else she could be doing.

However, once she took the leap into VALIDATE and started understanding the process the accelerator class would take her through, she realized her biggest goal was to gather quality information to create irresistible marketing messages that her target market could easily relate to, so when she went to sell to them, they’d instantly know the offering was for them and that she could help solve their #1 problem.

“Learning how to do the market research interviews was hands down, my favorite thing. It's funny as a business owner, you know you're supposed to do these things, but you're like, where's the beautiful little manual and the questions that help me know how to do this?”

Rashidat came into the 8-week already feeling pretty confident there was demand for her product idea, but she needed to find the right words to use to sell it.

“My number one accomplishment was having a sales campaign that I felt really confident about and actually making sales from it. This process helped me test those words out and then use them and then actually make a sale, and that made me feel very confident so that I can keep doing that and keep reiterating and getting better in that process – to go forward.”

A huge perk for Rashidat was having people to talk about her product idea with inside the VALIDATE community.

Friends and family can absolutely be supportive and have good intentions, but if they’re not entrepreneurs themselves, they don’t always understand the processes you’re going through at any given time.

The community, including Gillian, her success coaches, and other VALIDATE students, helped her feel confident that she solidified her marketing messages enough to move forward.

“If I never joined this program, I think I probably would have still been spinning my wheels trying to figure out “how do I actually sell?” It's one thing to have a great product and know that people want it, but if you don't know how to sell it or help them understand how it's going to help them, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't be making any money.”

Rashidat started recommending VALIDATE to others even before she was finished!

“It's not IF I would recommend this program to someone else. I would definitely recommend it. It is a great, succinct, structured way to take what you think your idea is, have a way to have these questions and conversations with people who you think would be interested, and then figure out how to move forward from there.

Anybody who has a business idea, this is the best way for them to start because we all know we need to validate the idea. We don't know how, and this gives you a structure on how to do that.”
