How I Made $2.6M as a Work-At-Home-Mom (So You Can Just Copy Me)
Want to grow a wildly profitable online business without hustling 24/7? In this post, I’m breaking down how I built a $2.6 million business while raising five kids (and now, six!), homeschooling, and keeping work hours to just 20 per week.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t happen overnight. But I’ll walk you through exactly what worked (and what didn’t) so you can skip the guesswork and build your own flexible, sustainable business.
Let’s dive in!
My Simple, Sustainable Business Model
At its core, my business sells two things:
Online courses that teach people how to start and grow online businesses.
Coaching programs that provide done-with-you support for building those businesses.
The courses are more affordable and self-paced, while coaching involves more hands-on help from me and my team. I price everything reasonably because I believe you shouldn’t have to go into debt to learn how to earn an income online.
That pricing philosophy has made our programs easier to sell, and more impactful for the people who join.
How the Sales Funnel Works
Here’s a big-picture view of our sales funnel:
1. Visibility (Getting in Front of New People)
YouTube (biggest source of leads)
SEO (via blog content)
Joint Venture Partnerships (aka working with others in the space)
2. Nurturing (Building the Relationship)
Email marketing (our most powerful nurturing tool)
Website (helps build trust)
Podcast (builds deeper connection)
3. Converting (Making the Sale)
Email sales campaigns
Webinars (highest conversion rate, around 10%)
This funnel brings in new leads every day and automatically nurtures them into buyers. Webinars are our highest-converting tool, but email reaches the widest audience. Together, they create a sustainable system that makes sales daily.
Getting My First Customers (The Unsexy Truth)
The early days? Kinda messy. I tried a LOT of different things to get traction.
Some worked. Most didn’t. I was constantly testing, learning, and trying again.
One thing that finally clicked: offering low-priced digital products ($27-$29) that I knew delivered a TON of value. This gave me the confidence to promote them boldly and helped me prove there was real demand.
From there, I gradually raised prices, refined the offers, and built more robust versions.
Takeaway:Start with something simple. Validate it. Improve it.
Scaling from 3 Customers to $2.6 Million
Scaling happened in three parts:
Growing my audience – Once I ditched social media and went all-in on YouTube, everything changed. The channel grew fast and consistently for years. From 1,000 subscribers to 10,000+ per month.
Refining my product mix – I started with a bunch of offers. Eventually, I trimmed them down to just four core products: Startup Society, Validate, Creator Fast Track, and 100K Mastermind.
Building a team + systems – At first, I hired random help here and there. That didn’t work. Once I brought on a business manager to organize things, we grew strategically. Today, my team runs like a well-oiled machine.
Tools I Use to Run Everything
No fancy tech required. I still use many of the tools I started with:
Website: Squarespace (formerly WordPress)
Email Marketing: ConvertKit
Courses: Teachable
Membership Site: AccessAlly (on WordPress)
Team Communication: Slack
Project Management: Asana
Payment Management: Melio
These are the backbone of my business and make it possible to run lean while serving thousands of students.
Melio: The Smartest Way to Pay Contractors and Get Paid
Okay, time for a quick behind-the-scenes since we’re on the topic of “tools”. For over a year now, I've been using the payment platform Melio to pay all the contractors on my team, and it has been a game-changer because it gives me so much flexibility and none of the hassle of traditional invoicing and payments.
Here’s how it works: Melio is a super simple digital payment platform where you can both pay your vendors and get paid by your business customers… all in one place.
Your business clients can pay you by card or ACH in just a couple of clicks—no sign-up required. Or you can even send them a custom payment link so they can pay instantly, and the money goes straight into your account.
One of the coolest parts? The basic plan, called Melio Go, is totally free. Check it out to start issuing and sending invoices, and receiving payments, right away.
There are also paid plans if you need more advanced features, like branded invoices. The paid plans also sync automatically with QuickBooks to reconcile your invoices and payments which means no more digging through spreadsheets!
For me, using Melio has made getting paid easier and paying my team stress-free.

Balancing Work and Motherhood
I’ve built this business while raising a growing family and homeschooling my kids. The key?
Firm boundaries and a 20-hour workweek.
It’s not always perfect, but I’ve been intentional about:
Keeping work hours limited
Letting my kids entertain themselves (yes, it's okay!)
Taking messy, imperfect action
Staying focused on one thing at a time
You CAN build a successful business and be present for your family. But it requires boundaries, planning, and purpose.
The #1 Mistake I Made (So You Don’t Have To)
I made this one over and over again:
Trying to automate or optimize before something was working.
Whether it was hiring too soon, creating a course before testing demand, or building systems for offers that hadn’t sold yet… it never worked.
Instead, I had to learn to do things manually first. Figure out what works. THEN automate or delegate.
