Reprogram Your Brain for SUCCESS (here’s how)
If there's one thing I believe for sure, it's that our actions determine our results. What we put in = what we get out. We ARE in control of our outcomes.
And, what controls our actions? Our thoughts. Plain and simple.
So, if we can reprogram our brains with a new mindset — one geared towards success — what will be the result?
We'll develop habits that will drive us towards success
We'll look for opportunities everywhere we go
We'll notice the positive rather than constantly getting hung up on the negative
We'll reach our goals faster!
And that's why I believe it's incredibly important to work on our mindset and constantly work on improving our thought patterns.
If you have a minute for your future, then keep reading to learn 5 steps to reprogram your mind for success:
Decide what success means to you
First things first, you have to know what result you want to achieve. And this requires a bit of thought, because YOUR version of success might not look anything like what you see on Instagram.
Maybe you want…
to become wealthy or financially free
to be at peace with yourself and God
to live a specific lifestyle
to have time and money to travel the world
to be able to homeschool your kids
to learn to be content with what you have
By customizing your goals to your personal values, you'll find that motivation to work towards those goals comes much more easily!
Constantly look for opportunities
You know how, after buying a new car, you start seeing that make and model everywhere you go? The number of those cars didn't change, but now you're looking for them, so you're noticing them.
It's tough to find what you aren't looking for. Most of us wish there were more good opportunities in our lives, but… are we really looking for them?
To look for them, you first have to believe they exist, which leads us to the next point…
Believe that success isn't random
If you believe that the only reason some people are successful is because they got lucky, then you won't have any motivation to look for opportunities or to work towards your dreams.
You'll only take responsibility for your success and be willing to put in the work if you believe that success correlates with effort.
(Hint: it does.)
Believe you're capable of figuring anything out
As you pursue your goals, it's inevitable that you'll run up against some challenges. Things will get in your way and STOP you. It happens to everyone.
The difference between those who succeed and those who fail is in how they respond to these challenges.
Some people let themselves be stopped. When a roadblock shows up they turn around and drive home. Back to safety, security, and little risk.
Others rise to the challenge. They figure out a way around, over, or under the roadblock so that they can keep moving forward towards their goal.
What will your response be? Right now, as you're reading this post, it's easy to say, “Of course I won't let challenges stop me! I'll push through whatever I have to.” But it's a lot tougher to make that choice when pushing through the challenge is uncomfortable.
Visualize your goals
As you work towards your goal, there will be many options for different actions you can take. How can you decide exactly what to do and how to spend your time?
The secret is in the details. When you know exactly what you're trying to achieve, and what that looks like, you'll find that it becomes much more obvious what you should do because you'll see how different actions will (or won't) get you closer to that specific destination.
Your first step
Got it? Yep. Pretty easy to understand.
But… where should you start?
I'd recommend you set aside 10 minutes, before you go to bed tonight, to think about what success means to you and start visualizing what that will look like.
Ten minutes isn't enough time to finish this exercise, but it's one small step in the right direction.
(And understanding the value of such small steps is another secret to success. More on that in this excellent book.)
